Day 2 of trip. Harold drove to Centrailia, Washington to meet us at the hotel where we stayed the night. Harold brought Karen a copy of his book "Other Voices, Darker Rooms" and brought Angie a copy of "Rose of Honor" and autographed both books on the spot. Being Halloween he autographed Karen's "BOO" at the end of it. As for the men, he brought N.W. flags.

This statue is the monument to the four members of the American Legion who were killed in a gun battle with the Communists of the Industrial Workers of the World (I.W.W. or Wobblies) on November 11th, 1919, one year after the end of World War One. A local farmer was also killed, who for some reason isn't mentioned on the monument, and one Red was dragged from his jail cell than night by a mob and hanged from the bridge over the Skookumchuk river. This is known in history as the Centralia Massacre
