On the 20th anniversary show, Dorothy Kilgallen, who was always one of Lloyd's favorite guests (and with whom Lloyd had a years long, clandestine romantic relationship), told the listening audience that almost from the beginning, she never doubted OTDF's staying power and figured it would be around for decades. Lloyd REALLY loved Dorothy and it took great tenacity on his part to keep the relationship secret from the public, especially Dorothy's sizable fan base. When she died a year and half later, Lloyd was absolutely crushed, completely heartbroken. Two days after her final appearance on TV's What's My Line, she was scheduled to be Lloyd's guest once again on November 9, 1965, the day of the big Northeast Blackout. She never showed up because she died on November 8, the day before! *NM*
