Let us also give thanks to those valiant workers who silently come through our neighborhoods each night while we sleep and remove the millions of corpses fallen by this deadly scourge. I have never seen them or heard them but I know they must be there. How else to explain the total absence of bodies on our streets or people being carted out to emergency vehicles. This has created a wonderful illusion of normalcy, so real that sometimes I actually find myself seeing my neighbors, even talking to them in cheerful tones, though I know they must all be dead. *NM*
